Zoe Tucker is a picture book art director, designer and writer.

With over 25 years in the publishing industry, she has worked on hundreds of books, across all formats including board books, picture books and illustrated non-fiction. Her current client list includes Alison Green Books, Dorling Kindersley, Magic Cat Publishing, Quarto, and Scholastic UK.

Zoë is happiest when she is collaborating with artists and publishers to hone new ideas. Her strength lies in finding and commissioning the right artist for each project and she loves those crunchy bits in the middle – winkling out the characters and working out the narrative story. ‘No two books are the same, and that is what makes our work interesting!’

For the last 18 years she has been the art director and designer for the UK No.1 best-selling picture book duo Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. She has commissioned numerous award winning books including most recently: Flooded, winner of the Klaus Flugge Award 2024; and Grumpy Fairies winner of the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2021.
